Description
A discussion / practical on how to mix up paints from raw pigments, the types of binders used, the different characteristics of each binder, and how to analyze manuscripts to determine which colors were used. Class will have a fee of $5 per person for handout, gloves, masks and materials which will be provided. Class will leave with a little tab of lead white prepared with gum arabic for future use. WARNING: We will be working with powdered pigments, some of which are poisonous by inhalation, and some of which are relatively expensive. As a result, this class is restricted to well behaved teenagers and well-behaved adults only, excepting the instructor. Limit 10. No auditing unless you bring your own safety gear. Seriously.
