The basic dress of 16th c Southern Germany is known in costuming circles as the T-front dress, or the Square necked dress, or the Kampfrau style dress. In this we'll analyze period tailor's manuals, examine period text and art sources for clues on construction and what was worn underneath. Then we'll take the historical references and walk through the patterning and construction of the different styles of this garment, along with appropriate materials and colors.
