Description
Thrones toppled, battles won, taxes set and evaded: based on Compleat Anachronist #141, this is a search for the earliest known meads in Europe (and a few related places). Did men make mead, or was it a woman's job? Was mead made at home, or commercially traded? Was there enough honey available to provide mead in any quantity? How did mead figure in religion (mostly Christianity, since that's most of the extant written record)? $1-2 donation for handouts welcome.
