Description
We will review the elements essential to a folktale or fairy tale. We will also read some of these stories and note their similarities and differences. Each student will then write their own folktale or fairy tale in a category of their choosing (for example, write your own version of The Glass Mountain or Red Riding Hood). Depending on Class Size, students will pair up and write a story about the same subject. Then the class will discuss the differences between the details in each student’s story. This class will build on Folktales and Fairy Tales – Links Across Time and Place. However, that is not a prerequisite class and new material will be presented. (Children are welcome to attend.)
