Description
In sixteenth-century Italy, the Roman school of music was perfecting late-Renaissance musical style, while the Venetian school was groping its way towards something new: the Baroque, and opera. Listen to snippets from the late fifteenth through early seventeenth centuries; talk about the styles, and also the composers - relatively few of whom got away with murdering their wives.
