Description
This class examines the embroidery found on garments in Italy from approximately 1450-1500 via paintings and extrapolated motifs from paintings and later found examples of embroidery books. Emphasis on women's garments but some information on men and children. We cover what types of materials to use both in accurate and practical recreations of period patterns and how to obtain period embroidery patterns from paintings. Workshop portion: workshop portion is limited to 10 participants Several basic stitches will be covered and participants should be familiar with embroidery of some kind and bring scissors if they wish to purchase a kit or their own kit with hoop, floss and fabric. If participants wish to purchase a kit the fee is $5.
