Description
Learn how the color red was created in the middle ages and the Renaissance with madder, brazilwood, kermes, cochineal and more. This class will discuss extant recipies for dyeing red, the chemistry and science behind how the color red was achieved, and will include a demo of a dye vat using a 16th century Italian recipe for dyeing red.
