Description
With the growth of cut and thrust and the longsword in our society, many have begun studying the tradition of Johannes Liechtenauer. Many have begun using his hidden hews and guards in their fencing. In this class, students will build on the basic techniques of Liechtenauer and learn the philosophical and technical core of the art including the use of fuhlen or feeling, indes, durchwechseln, sprechfenster, nachreisen, and ansetzen. Different footwork will also be discussed and students will learn how to go with the left and strike with the right as our sources state to deliver a powerful attack from the pre-fencing. It is highly recommended that students have some basic familiarity with the Liechtenauer system such as the basic hidden hews and guards/leger to get the most from this class but it is not required. A longsword feder or blunt is required a long with mask and C&T gear for slow partner drilling.
