Description
Francesco Anotonio Marcelli's 1686 book on fencing is one of the most important books on Italian fencing ever written. It documents the Neopolitan fencing school made famous by Marcelli's grandfather, and laid much of the groundwork for classical and modern Italian fencing theory. Marcelli's treatment of rapier dagger is both systematic and practical and distinct from many other Italian masters approaches. This clas will introduce students to Marcelli's Rapier and dagger system, which relies heavily on absence of blade, an 'annervated lunge' and attacks on an advance. Students will work in pairs to practice each action, so full fencing gear will be required for this class.
