The experience of childbirth is an almost universal female experience. This class examines that experience from the viewpoint of a Tudor royal female who was subject to the Ordinances for a Royal Birth written by Henry VII's mother, Margaret Beaufort. The Ordinances were exhaustive in their scope and coverage and are fascinating to read on their own. When combined with actual human experiences of birth undertaken pursuant to their requirements, they take on new importance.
