In this class, I will share my approach to creating a regional specific Celtic kit for a time and place without a lot of precedence or presence in the SCA: Iron Age Orkney. This discussion will include how I selected my time and location, how I filled in gaps in the archaeological record, and some ways that I try to take my kit from "Early Period Celtic" to "Iron Age Orcadian."
Orkney is an island cluster north of mainland Scotland in the North Sea, and has a rich cultural history from the Neolithic to today. If you like Scotland, standing stones, Vikings, sea exploration, the Picts, cool jewelry, unique dwellings, PUFFINS, seafood, Disney's Brave, and fringed fashion accessories, please join us! There's something for everyone! *PLEASE NOTE: This class will not be recorded.
