Description
The Filet cap, or Torque, stayed in fashion for several centuries during the early medieval ages. As shown in the Masesse Codex, this class will provide an overview of the construction of a frilled-edge filet. There are many ways to do the decorative edge for this cap, but I will cover a style that uses a box-pleated band stitched into the edge. Being familiar with hand stitching techniques will save frustrating, I will share my tips on making box pleats. Pictures of this style of filet can be seen here: http://manuscriptminiatures.com/codex-manesse-cod-pal-germ-848/939/ https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/b/bc/Codex_Manesse_Brunwart_von_Augheim.jpg
