Learn to make the especially fine rolled hem used on 14th century silk veils and described in Textiles and Clothing.
You'll need a practice fabric, which can be almost anything as long as it's not especially stiff. You also need a handsewing needle, thread that contrasts with your practice fabric, and scissors. Participants who want to be able to start on their veils right away and who contact me far enough ahead of time can buy a one-yard veil kit with fabric and thread from me for $5. Alternatively, you can buy your white silk gauze direct from dharmatrading.com or another source. Many places carry Gutermann's silk thread, and other options are available. For your finished veils, your thread should match your silk fabric.
This class will be recorded.
