Music Notation
Description
"?unless sounds are held by the memory of man, they perish, because they cannot be written down." ? Isidore of Seville, music scholar, 7th century. The language of music, i.e., music notation, has existed and evolved from ancient times. In this one-hour class, you will learn about its evolution with a focus on the Middle Ages. You will need the class handout in order to make sense of the class! It can be found here: https://bit.ly/3dkiVjV or in the Classes section of my website: www.musicacodex.com Also, there are music samples that we will listen to for the class. I hope to be able to play them during the class, but if something goes wrong, you can download them here: https://bit.ly/2xQIKb1 or in the Classes section of my website: www.musicacodex.com
