Description
If you have a ukulele and want to play SCA music on it, this class will help you get started! After giving a brief history of the gittern, Renaissance Guitar, Madeiran rajao, and Hawaiian ukulele, the instructor will show the class some basic chords and strums, and introduce at least three songs: one Medieval, one Renaissance, and one "Filk". Students can tune their ukuleles, and strum and sing along remotely. Song sheets and chord diagrams will be available via link. This class will not be recorded. As this class is being offered for a second time, some of the songs (but not all) will differ from those taught in the last University session. Many people don't realize that the ukulele has roots in Medieval and Renaissance Europe - it is an appropriate instrument for accompanying SCA song. This course should help aspiring ukulelists to get started!
