|Fire may no longer be the everyday necessity it once was, but studying and practicing period fire making methods can be an immersive (and fun!) way to learn more about those whose lives depended on it. In this class, I will discuss some documentable materials and techniques used in fire making prior to 1600 CE and demonstrate the initial steps of starting a fire with flint and steel (a fire making method appropriate for many personas). This class will be recorded and the recording will be made available to students.
