Description
Advanced Commedia: Flaminio Scala's 1611 collection of 40 Commedia dell'Arte comedies, and 10 pastorals in "Il Teatro Delle Favole Rapprestative" are fun and brilliant plays most likely performed in 1589 at a Medici wedding, as recalled by Scala 22 years later. Most audiences will be uneasy with performances of these plays for various reasons, and there are other flaws in Scala's version of these scenarios. This class looks at reasonable changes and the rationale for them that make them playable, and yet still essentially Scala's play. 30 Minute lecture followed by Q&A and group discussion. The lecture will presume the attendees have knowledge of Commedia dell'Arte and some interest in performing it. This class will not be recorded.
