This class focuses on sixteenth-century understanding of the four humors and their medicinal relationship to music. I will be focusing primarily on the music of two Lute Song composers, Thomas Campion and John Dowland, as well as some practical music concepts found in Thomas Morley's Plain and Easy Introduction to Practical Music as they pertain to the humors. I plan to record the session (primarily for improvement purposes! :D).
I will provide PDFs of all materials for the class, as well as a .docx or PDF outline of the material covered. |
