Description
We will discuss how to plant and grow varieties of roses that were grown in period. I will cover where to find period varieties, how to plant and care for them, a brief discussion about propagation and if there is time, what to do about pests (both insect and diseases). FYI: Rather than teaching my "Roses 101: Roses Then and Now" class, I chose to do a "deep dive" into the origin of the Autumn Damask rose, the only rose in medieval Europe that was known to reboom in a season. If you wish to see the Roses 101: Roses Then and Now, it is now available on YouTube: https://youtu.be/uEHEd0rw1Tg Links to download the class handouts will be emailed to students prior to the class. Class will be offered via Zoom and will be recorded.
