Description
"unless sounds are held by the memory of man, they perish, because they cannot be written down." Isidore of Seville, music scholar, 7th century. The language of music, i.e., music notation, has existed and evolved from ancient times. In this one-hour class, you will learn about its evolution with a focus on the Middle Ages. You will need the class handout in order to make sense of the class! It can be found here: https://bit.ly/3kfDT95 or in the Classes section of my website: www.musicacodex.com Also, there are music samples that we will listen to for the class. I will play them during the class, but if something goes wrong, you can download them here: https://bit.ly/2xQIKb1 or in the Classes section of my website: www.musicacodex.com Class will not be recorded
