Finding and processing natural materials for making period arrows
Instructor's Kingdom: Atlantia, Time Zone: EST
2:00 PM - 3:00 PM
Everything one needs to make period arrows can be found growing somewhere in Atlantia, but it helps to know what to look for. In this class I will combine Forestry and Archery with a focus on bamboo/cane and coppiced wood as materials for arrow shafts, and wild turkey feathers as fletching. I'll show examples of these materials, then demonstrate how to process and straighten shafts and how to peel, apply, and trim feathers. Time permitting, I'll also share some different ways to construct nocks and talk about making metal or bone points.
