Description
This class has everything: symbolism, literary themes, Morgan le Fay! By popular demand, Ela will be presenting her scholarly rant about why "Gawain and the Green Knight" is THE BEST.* Climb inside the mind of late-fourteenth-century people through the beauty that is this insane trip of a story. Ela will discuss the poem’s history, narrative, spiritual and mythological influences, cultural inferences (especially regarding color, clothing, and hunting culture!), and of course, its connection to wider Arthuriana and medieval literature as a whole. Warning: 600+ year spoilers! * Ela has not seen the Green Knight movie yet. She will undoubtedly have Opinions (she does just based on the trailer), but that will have to be saved for a future edition of this class.
