Description
Wine has a long history of being used as medicine. In Medieval Europe and the Mediterranean, wine was used both as a balance to the humors as well as a carrier for other spices and herbs for curative purposes. We'll take a look at sources such as Hippocrates and the Salerno Health Regime and take a look at various recipes for hippocras and other "medicinal" wine based cures. Basic knowledge of humoral theory is recommended but not required. Class will be recorded pending technical difficulties.
