Description
We've all struggled with slippy headwear. From Pallu to Stola, Hijab to Wimple. But for most personas, our outfit is incomplete with a bare head. This class is focused on draped cloth headcoverings, not hats. Bring your veils, underpinnings, and questions such as: How did these stay on in period? What tools can help us acheive and maintain these looks without the help of stylists and servants? Can veils help me cover non-period hair? Most styles discussed will be historically female, however participants and personas of all gender identities are encouraged to participate! Please bring a rectangular piece of fabric at least 1.5 yards in length and 2 feet wide. Vani ka Bhediya (mka Mandy Haecker) began studying headcovering practices in 2014. Over the years, she has spent several months covering her hair in public, done LARP combat in a turban, and worn headwraps in response to medical hair loss. This is her first class teaching in the SCA!
