In some instances soil knowledge was remarkably sophisticated and has changed little in 2000 years. We'll talk about various types of soil and soil amendments as understood and practiced by our ancestors. I'll have samples of various types of soil. Bring soil samples of your own if you like.

This class will cover wearing zils, warming up your hands, and basic patterns for zils. As a bellydancer I love that I can carry some music with me wherever I go! Bring zils if you have them, I will have five loaner sets.

Marash Embroidery, sometimes called Armenian Interlaced embroidery, comes from the Marash region in (modern) south-east Turkey. This class will focus on the foundational stitch of the technique - the cross. This stitch is an early precursor of the interlaced herringbone stitch and was adapted by Kutch work.
